Sims Plastics was founded by Sylvistia (also known as Sylvester) and Annie Sims in 1979, under the name Alco, in a 10 X 20 building located in Gardendale, TX. They put a sign on the fence that read “we are moving” when they bought Sims Plastics in Odessa.

Annie worked the store, while Sylvester worked for Olsen Engineering during the day and on irrigation designs at night.

From these humble beginnings, the company grew. In 1980, they moved to a larger facility. Sylvester resigned from Olsen and joined Annie to make Alco into a successful irrigation business.
